The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to Private Edward E. Burk (ASN: 6707011), United States Army Air Corps, for heroism, not involving actual conflict with an enemy, displayed while serving with the 5th Observation Squadron, in rescuing a crippled boy from drowning in the Feeder Canal, Hudson Falls, New York, on 6 October 1933. Responding to cries for help, Private Burk with utter disregard of his own personal safety, dived into the water of the canal and rescued a helpless crippled boy who had fallen into the canal and was in grave danger of drowning.
