Storm, United States Navy, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal (Posthumously) for heroism at the risk of life not involving conflict with an armed enemy as Pilot of a Fighter Plane in Composite Squadron FOUR (VC-4), based aboard U.S.S. WASP (CVA-18), on 23 January 1954. Lieutenant Commander Storm maneuvered his plane toward the least obstructed area of the flight deck to avoid crashing into parked aircraft and personnel, averting a probable disaster.
