Julian Greer graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Class of 1927. On January 28, 1953, in bad weather, his PB4Y-2S Privateer patrol bomber with Patrol Bomber Squadron 9, assigned to Whidbey Island Naval Air Station, struck Black Peak in Washington State at 5,000 foot altitude, killing him and all nine other members of the crew.
