Minarick, United States Navy, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for heroism at the risk of life not involving conflict with an armed enemy as an Aircrewman of a helicopter attached to U.S.S. PRINCETON (CVL-23), in effecting the rescue of an aircraft pilot from drowning in the Sea of Japan off Wonsan, Korea, on 5 December 1950.
