William Wager was rescued by a helicopter after his plane crash-landed on November 28, 1950. The rescue helicopter from the 3d Air Rescue Squadron piloted by First Lieutenant Robert B. Parker, ran of fuel and landed 25 miles northwest of Pyongyang, North Korea. All three on board were killed.

LEYTE (CV-32), on his TWELFTH Photographic Reconnaissance flight against enemy forces in Korea, on 28 November 1950.
