Headquarters, 1st Infantry Division, General Orders No. 12 (April 3, 1943)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal Dalmer B. Tucker (ASN: 38059943), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Battery C, 33d Field Artillery Battalion, 1st Infantry Division, in the period from January to April 1943. While his battalion was being attacked by enemy planes, Corporal Tucker, despite heavy strafing and shelling and the constant danger of exploding ammunition in burning vehicles on either side, remained at his gun and directed heavy and accurate fire at these attacking planes. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
