The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Sergeant Major Abraham Cohn, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 6 May 1864, while serving with 6th New Hampshire Infantry. During Battle of the Wilderness Sergeant Major Cohn rallied and formed, under heavy fire, disorganized and fleeing troops of different regiments.
At Petersburg, Virginia, 30 July 1864, he bravely and coolly carried orders to the advanced line under severe fire.
