Edison Wainwright was interned as a Prisoner of War in North Vietnam after he was shot down on October 13, 1967 and was held until his release on February 12, 1973.. During his captivity he appeared in North Vietnamese propaganda, and was subsequently accused by some of his fellow prisoners of collaboration with the enemy. He was excluded from NAM POWs, the post-captivity organization of Vietnam War POWs for his actions in captivity.
