James Dodson was interned as a Prisoner of War in South Vietnam after he was captured near DaNang on May 6, 1966. On June 17, 1966, he and fellow prisoner Walter Eckes wrested their guards’ weapons while they were being fed and escaped, evading the enemy for four days until they reached Allied forces.
