Edward Cherry was commissioned in 1959. During two tours in Vietnam he was credited with destruction of one enemy MiG in aerial combat and earned two Silver Stars and ten Distinguished Flying Crosses. He retired in 1988 as a U.S. Air Force Brigadier General.
