War Department, General Orders No. 88 (1945)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Colonel Pierre Boyer De Latour du Moulin, French Army, for acts of heroism far beyond those expected in the course of duty while serving as Commanding Officer, 2d Moroccan Tabor Battalion, in action against enemy forces in France, from 5 to 17 October 1944. Colonel De Latour du Moulin was continually exposed to extreme danger by his own choice, fighting at the very head of his unit as it successively conquered Ferdrupt, Ramonchamp, and Droit de Cornimont and crossed the Moselotte River. Throughout this period, the enemy offered bitter resistance, but the unfaltering courage of Colonel De Latour du Moulin in the exercise of his command functions inspired his men through the storm of fire to complete their mission. The gallant leadership and unselfish devotion to duty displayed by Colonel De Latour reflect highest credit upon himself and the Allied Forces.
