The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to First Lieutenant (Infantry) James D. Taylor, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. While Commanding the Station of Pantabangan, Luzon, Philippine Islands, in January 1901, by his discretion and excellent judgment First Lieutenant Taylor obtained possession of the correspondence which made known the whereabouts of the insurgent chieftain, Aguinaldo, thus making possible the expedition resulting in his capture.
