The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross, in lieu of a previously issued Certificate of Merit and Distinguished Service Medal, to Trumpeter Almer A. Anderson, United States Army, for extraordinary gallantry while serving as a member of Troop F, 7th Cavalry Regiment. Trumpeter Anderson rendered assistance to a fellow trooper who was disabled while swimming horses across the Tagnig River, near Fort McKinley, Philippine Islands, 9 November 1912, probably saving the man’s life.
