The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal Henry Emil Zax (ASN: 1918638), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company B, 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Vaux Andigny, France, 11 October 1918. Having been sent on a dangerous liaison patrol, Corporal Zax was severely wounded soon after he had located the unit on the right of his own. He, nevertheless, went forward to battalion headquarters immediately after securing first aid and made a complete report to his battalion commander before going to the rear.
