The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Major (Medical Corps) Harrison Briggs Webster, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 47th Infantry Regiment (Attached), 4th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Bois-de-Bruilles, France, September 26 to 12 October 1918. After seeing that his personnel was functioning properly, Major Webster went fearlessly to positions in the front lines. When stretcher bearers were unable to handle the large number of casualties, he personally took a light German wagon to the front lines and gathered the wounded. His personal bravery was inspiration to his men throughout his service. He was killed by shell fire on 12 October 1918.
