The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Sergeant Francis W. Wagner (ASN: 1708042), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company C, 308th Infantry Regiment, 77th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Badonvilliers, France, 24 June 1918. Sergeant Wagner was found badly wounded in the neck and legs, crawling back to bring up support to his position.
