The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private First Class Isaac Rabinowitz (ASN: 2671573), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company A, 107th Infantry Regiment, 27th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near St. Souplet, France, 18 October 1918. When the advance of his battalion was checked by heavy machine-gun fire, Private Rabinowitz, with two other soldiers, went forward under heavy fire to reconnoiter the enemy positions. By effective rifle fire, they drove the gunners from two machine-gun nests into a dugout nearby, which they captured, together with 35 prisoners, including three officers.
