The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Legion of Merit to Colonel (Medical Corps) Knox Dunlap, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from June 1954 to May 1963. [This award supersedes General Orders Number 25, Headquarters Fort Devens, Fort Devens, Massachusetts, dated 26 September 1958, as pertains to the award of the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service during the period 1 June 1956 to 26 September 1958 and General Orders Number 187, Headquarters, Fort Dix, Fort Dix, New Jersey, 1961, as pertains to the award of the Army Commendation Medal (First Oak Leaf Cluster) for meritorious service during the period September 1958 to April 1961, to Colonel Dunlap.]
