Roy Gregory graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Class of 1933. He was captured after the fall of the Philippine Islands in 1942, and was held as a Prisoner of War of the Japanese. He died when the Japanese “Hell Ship” he was being transported to Japan aboard, was sunk in 1944.

The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Lieutenant Colonel Gregory, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
