    The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Ordinary Seaman Hugh King, United States Navy, for gallant and heroic conduct while serving on board the U.S.S. Iroquois, Delaware River, 7 September 1871. Jumping overboard at the imminent risk of his life, Ordinary Seaman King rescued one of the crew of that vessel from drowning.
