The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Sergeant Dominic Steve Vincenzo (ASN: 35005206), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 30th Reconnaissance Troop (Mechanized), 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 12 April 1945, in Germany. Although he was wounded by panzerfaust fire which knocked out his vehicle, Sergeant Vincenzo gallantly moved to the aid of the wounded crew and succeeded in bringing one man to a place of safety. As he was aiding another man, he was seriously wounded by grenade fragments. Sergeant Vincenzo’s heroic self-sacrifice was a source of inspiration to all who observed him. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Sergeant Vincenzo, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
