The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant Michael J. Urban (ASN: 33392815), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 18 September 1944, in Holland. Sergeant Urban, in Holland. Sergeant Urban, in company with a comrade, took part in an attack on a town. During the attack Sergeant Urban rescued two men who had been wounded. Sergeant Urban and his companion dug holes for the wounded to lie in and used radios to call for support. The courage and initiative displayed by Sergeant Urban enabled them to extricate the company from an unfortunate predicament and to prevent further casualties. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Sergeant Urban, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
