Headquarters, 30th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 66 (October 1, 1944)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to First Sergeant Roy L. Tabor (ASN: 17045273), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 117th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 7 August 1944, in France. First Sergeant Tabor was assigned to duty with an infantry unit engaged in a bitter fight with a stubborn hostile force. Seeing a bazooka team of his company in need of ammunition, First Sergeant Tabor crept and crawled forward under heavy enemy fire to carry sufficient ammunition with which the tam destroyed two enemy tanks. First Sergeant Tabor then led the bazooka team back to friendly territory. The personal courage and soldierly attributes displayed by First Sergeant Tabor were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
