Headquarters, 30th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 131 (May 25, 1945)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Adrian D. Sullivan (ASN: 20410479), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 230th Field Artillery Battalion, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 18 April 1945, in Germany. When the command group with which Private First Class Sullivan was serving as a driver was subjected to intense enemy fire, Private First Class Sullivan remained with his radio vehicle and despite the severe fire, endeavored to move the vehicle to a position where protection would be available. During the entire operation he faced continuous enemy fire and, although his vehicle was struck, he succeeded in moving it to a more protected position at which time he was seriously wounded by enemy machine gun fire. Private First Class Sullivan’s heroic actions reflect great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Armed Forces.
