The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Robert C. Reidenbach (ASN: 31420630), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company A, 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in Germany. On 30 March 1945, at Grossheubach, Germany, at 0830 hours, Private First Class Reidenbach, under heavy enemy fire, ran eighty-five yards toward a German machine gun which had temporarily halted his platoon. Despite the bitter fire that was concentrated upon him and barely missed him as he advanced, Private First Class Reidenbach drew up to within forty yards of the Germans, fired two bazooka rounds at the building and succeeded in silencing the machine gun, killing three of the enemy, wounding two, and forcing fifteen to surrender. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Private First Class Reidenbach, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
