The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Sergeant Leo Paul T. Jacques (ASN: 73498), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company L, 104th Infantry Regiment, 26th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, at Boise Brule, France, 10 April 1918. Sergeant Jacques displayed courage, coolness, and spirit of self-sacrifice in voluntarily going through shell-swept area to bring back wounded to a place of safety, carrying one wounded man more than 50 yards under heavy shell fire.
