Colonel Turner directed this highly important mission from his position as Co-Pilot of the leading aircraft of the formation. Maintaining a tight defensive formation until the target was reached, Colonel Turner led the formation over the assigned target and wrought vast devastation on important enemy installations. The outstanding success achieved is attributable to the courage, skill and brilliant leadership of Colonel Turner. His actions on this occasion reflect the highest credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
