James Salley was interned as a Prisoner of War in South Vietnam after he and fellow soldier Phillip Terrill were captured on March 31, 1971 when their base camp was overrun. Initial reports indicated Terrill was severely wounded and died four days later. James Salley and was held in South Vietnam and Laos until his death in captivity on or about July 15, 1971.
