Wear, United States Army, for gallantry in connection with military operations against an opposing armed force while serving with Company A, 2d Battalion, 503d Infantry Regiment, 173d Airborne Brigade, in the Republic of Vietnam, on 22 and 23 June 1967. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
