The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant Westley S. Glover (ASN: 12026256), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company K, 3d Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in Sicily during the period from July through October 1943. During an attack on an enemy position, Sergeant Glover displayed outstanding courage in the face of devastating enemy machine gun and rifle fire. When ordered to outflank an enemy force retarding his company’s advance, Sergeant Glover brilliantly led his men in a vicious attack and succeeded in capturing a number of the enemy. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.

His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
