    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technician Fifth Grade Raymond Stull (ASN: 35379970), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the Medical Detachment, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in the vicinity of Troina, Sicily, 5 August 1943. During an intense enemy mortar barrage, Corporal Stull, disregarding his own safety, proceeded to the aid of three wounded soldiers and evacuated them to a place of comparative safety. His initiative and fortitude under enemy fire were instrumental in saving the lives of his comrades and were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service, reflecting great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
