    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Second Lieutenant (Field Artillery) Preston C. Clark (ASN: 0-887391), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 113th Field Artillery Battalion, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in Holland, on 16 November 1944. Second Lieutenant Preston was killed while leading a forward observation party in establishing a new military installation in Germany. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Second Lieutenant Clark, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
