Headquarters, 1st Infantry Division, General Orders No. 29 (July 23, 1943)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private First Class Frank W. Serinto (ASN: 33146909), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company C, 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in North Africa, on or about 23 April 1943. While patrolling enemy territory, Private Serinto’s platoon encountered a severe enemy mortar barrage. When two members of his patrol were wounded by shell fragments, Private Serinto administered first aid and prepared shelters for the men. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
