(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant (MC) John W. Stevens, United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action as Surgeon attached to a Marine Division on Roi, Namur and Kwajalein Atoll, in braving enemy fire to administer first aid to men of a gun battery, on 12 February 1944. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
