The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting a Gold Star in lieu of a Second Award of the Silver Star to Commander [then Lieutenant Commander] Warren Collamore Hall (NSN: 0-78708), United States Navy, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity as Assistant Approach Officer attached to the U.S.S. SPOT (SS-413) during the FIRST War Patrol of that Submarine in enemy Japanese-controlled waters, from 4 December 1944 to 30 January 1945. Expertly handling attack problems, Commander Hall rendered invaluable assistance to his Commanding Officer in conducting attacks to sink ten enemy vessels totaling over 11,000 tons despite severe enemy countermeasures. His skill and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit with Combat “V” to Commander [then Lieutenant Commander] Warren Collamore Hall (NSN: 0-78708), United States Navy, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Commanding Officer of the U.S.S. SEA OWL (SS-405) during the THIRD War Patrol of that vessel in enemy Japanese-controlled waters of the East China and Yellow Sea Areas from 20 May to 29 July 1945. Persistent and tireless in the performance of lifeguard duties, Commander Hall rescued six Allied aviators shot down in hostile waters. In addition, he launched torpedo and gun attacks which resulted in the sinking of an enemy destroyer and four-masted schooner totaling approximately 2,600 tons, evading persistent enemy countermeasures including a sixteen hour depth-charge attack. His leadership and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service. (Commander Hall is authorized to wear the Combat “V”.)

The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Lieutenant Commander Warren Collamore Hall (NSN: 0-78708), United States Navy, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action as Diving Officer of the U.S.S. SUNFISH (SS-281), during the SECOND War Patrol from 4 February to 3 April 1943, and as Assistant Approach Officer and Executive Officer during the FOURTH War Patrol of that Submarine (23 July to 25 September 1943), in enemy Japanese-controlled waters in the Pacific Area. Carrying out his varied and highly important duties with outstanding skill and tireless devotion to duty, Lieutenant Commander Hall assisted his Commanding Officer in pressing home repeated attacks against the enemy and in successfully avoiding serious damage during hostile countermeasures. By his inspiring leadership and resolute perseverance, he contributed to the maximum fighting efficiency of the crew and to the sinking and damaging of many thousands of tons of enemy shipping. His heroic conduct throughout these patrols was in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
