(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technician Fourth Grade Orrin C. Hotzler (ASN: 37552000), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company C, 27th Tank Battalion, 20th Armored Division, in action against the enemy on 25 April 1945 at Berg, Germany. While withdrawing to get medical attention for the wounded, Technician Fourth Grade Hotzler’s tank was disabled by a mine. With his bow-gunner, Technician Fourth Grade Hotzler threw hand grenades at enemy machine gun nests and panzerfaust men, who were making it impossible to evacuate the wounded. In this action he was wounded. His heroism and gallantry in action were most inspiring and in keeping with the high traditions of the military service.
