Lester Lyles was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program upon graduation from Howard University in 1968. From 1999 to 2000 he served as the 28th Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force. He retired in 2003 as a U.S. Air Force 4-Star General.
