Albert Sneed graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Class of 1908. He retired in 1938, but was recalled to service during World War II, serving throughout the war and he retired in 1946 as a U.S. Army Air Forces Brigadier General.

    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Brigadier General, [then Colonel (Air Corps)] Albert Lee Sneed, United States Army Air Forces, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving as Chief of Staff of the Allied Air Command, Northwest Area, Darwin, Australia, in aerial operations during the bombing of Japanese installations on the Island of Timor in 1942. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Brigadier General Sneed, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army Air Forces.
