The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Airman’s Medal to Airman First Class Everett E. Evans, Jr., United States Air Force, for heroism involving voluntary risk of life at Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea, on 2 August 1981. On that date, Airman Evans observed an injured Korean National, who had just received a high voltage electrical shock on an elevated platform. With complete disregard for his own safety, Airman Evans, despite the hazard of live high voltage wires, unhesitatingly climbed the power pole, started first aid measures, and simultaneously attached a rope and lowered the man to medical personnel below. By his courageous action and humanitarian regard for his fellowman, Airman Evans has reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
