On that date, Major Light was Force Commander of twenty F-105s targeted against a vital North Vietnamese motor vehicle repair depot and transformer station. Major Light led the force to the targets under extremely heavy odds, engineered a precise roll-in for the friendly forces, and delivered his ordnance directly on target. Because of his precise leadership, the force of Thunderchiefs obtained unequaled bombing accuracy, rendering both targets unserviceable. By his gallantry and devotion to duty, Major Light has reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
