Alvin Sanders graduated from Clemson College where he excelled scholastically as well as athletically, graduating as a High Honor student as well as serving as Co-captain of Clemson’s football team in 1937-38. He was commissioned in the Marine Corps in 1938 upon graduation. He retired in 1967 as a United States Marine Corps Brigadier General.
