The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Theodore Stern, United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flights from 2 November 1956 to 4 February 1957. During this period, Captain Stern performed, under exceptional conditions, flights which were of the greatest importance to the United States Air Force. The effectiveness and courage exhibited by him in the accomplishment of these missions, under extremely hazardous flight conditions, ably demonstrated Captain Stern’s outstanding proficiency and steadfast devotion to duty. In the performance of these missions, he has reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
