The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Major Clinton H. Moses, United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Aircraft Commander of an F-4C “Phantom II” tactical jet fighter near Mui Lai, North Vietnam on 11 October 1967. On that date, Major Moses was on a special mission in support of Con Thien and Gio Lin, two Marine outposts under fire from artillery located in North Vietnam. Despite being silhouetted against a low overcast, Major Moses located and destroyed a field artillery gun, cargo boat and bunker system. The professional competence, aerial skill and devotion to duty displayed by Major Moses reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
