The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Paul M. Marschalk, United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an A-26 Attack Aircraft Pilot in Southeast Asia on 19 March 1969. Despite his exposure to intense gunfire from multiple anti-aircraft artillery positions, Captain Marschalk made repeated low altitude strikes against a hostile truck convoy. By his fortitude, tenacious courage and aerial skill, he successfully struck at night, in rugged terrain, and destroyed four hostile trucks and their cargos and damaged another. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Marschalk reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
