The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant Commander John F. Lynch, United States Naval Reserve, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while serving as a member of fleet Air Wing 7 during WW II with VB 114 from 5 May 1944 to 30 April 1945. In the successful completion of these missions, Lieutenant Commander (then Ensign) Lynch contributed materially to the success of the United States efforts. By his undaunted courage, superb airmanship, and unyielding devotion to duty in the face of hazardous flying conditions, Lieutenant Commander Lynch reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
