The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Sergeant William L. Gould, United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an Airborne Electronics Technician over Southeast Asia while assigned to the 6990th Security Squadron, Kadena Air Force Base, Okinawa, on 22 May 1969. On that date, Sergeant Gould’s alertness and immediate response in detecting and initiating action in Southeast Asia. The professional competence, aerial skill and devotion to duty displayed by Sergeant Gould reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
