The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Major Robert A. Braden, United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a C-130 Aircraft Commander at a classified location in Southeast Asia on 8 April 1969. On that date, Major Braden directed armed strike aircraft against a heavily defended hostile supply convoy. His aircraft was subjected to intense hostile fire. Major Braden’s courage and airmanship under extremely hazardous conditions were responsible for the interdiction of the convoy and the destruction of a large volume of hostile supplies. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Major Braden reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
