The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star (Army Award) to Private First Class Milton J. Robert, Jr. (MCSN: 433842), United States Marine Corps, for gallantry in action at New Georgia, Solomon Islands, on 20 July 1943, in aggressively crawling forward under heavy hostile fire to within twenty yards of an enemy machine-gun emplacement where he hurled hand grenades, silencing the weapon and killing two of the enemy. He eliminated one other with his automatic rifle.
