Callahan (MCSN: 447598), United States Marine Corps Reserve, for gallantry in action while serving with the Fourth Marine Raider Battalion at New Georgia, Solomon Islands, in aggressively advancing beyond his own front lines under heavy enemy fire to successfully silence three enemy machine-gun positions with rifle grenades on 1 July 1943.
