(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Second Lieutenant (Infantry) John G. Keyser, United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star (Posthumously) for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action while serving with Company I, 60th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division, in action on 14 March 1945. During the fight fore the Remagen bridgehead, Lieutenant Keyser, with his platoon, attacked and captured vital high ground in the vicinity of St. Katharnen. Receiving a strong enemy counterattack consisting of tanks and infantry, Lieutenant Keyser encouraged his men to hold their ground and finally, as a last resort, called for mortar and artillery fire on his own position to repulse the enemy.
